The Rías Baixas Roadshow is Back – and Better Than Ever!

For the first time in five years, the wineries of DO Rías Baixas made the journey to the US for a whirlwind, multi-city tour in early October to celebrate the origins of Albariño on Spain’s Atlantic Coast and the many different styles available from the region.

The wineries stopped in Miami and Washington DC to host a VIP masterclass for members of the trade and media followed by an exclusive showroom tasting of over 35 rare and wonderful wines from the region paired with tapas inspired by the best of Galicia. From the latest vintages of the region’s world-renowned Albariño to cellar-worthy añadas, espumosos and tintos, attendees enjoyed a range of styles and a full afternoon of education and discovery first-hand with representatives from the region and top wine industry tastemakers.

The VIP Masterclass – led in Miami by Alessandra Esteves (founder of the Florida Wine Academy) at the Miami Culinary Institute and in DC by dynamic duo Erik Segelbaum (Advanced Sommelier, founder of SOMLYAY) and Caroline Hermann (Master of Wine) at Barcelona Wine Bar – lead guests in a discovery of sobre lías winemaking and the latest trends from DO Rías Baixas.

In addition to sharing with members of the wine trade, nearly 100 lucky consumers had the opportunity to attend a special evening tasting at Barcelona Wine Bar in DC. The event was open to passionate Albariño lovers and curious members of the public who were interested in learning more about DO Rías Baixas and – of course – tasting the region’s many delicious world-class wines.
