charleston food and wine festival

Thank You Charleston

Rías Baixas Wines had one of its most successful experiences at this year’s Charleston Wine and Food Festival! We enjoyed “hangin’ in the Low Country” and meeting folks from South Carolina and beyond. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand for a glass of Rías Baixas Albariño – whether it was your first time trying the wine or your 10th time, we hope you loved every sip!

Rías Baixas Albariño is known as one of the most food-friendly wines available. The most obvious pairing for the dry, juicy grape is seafood – from shrimp and grits (thank you, Hamby Catering for providing this perfect example) to fresh oysters – these dishes are easy to find and enjoy! If you’re interested in more pairings, we have been partnering with chefs from around the country to share unexpected recipes that are perfect for Rías Baixas Albariño. Check out our Instagram (@RiasBaixasWines) and let us know if you make anything from the collection!

Over 50% of the winemakers in Rías Baixas are women

Rías Baixas in the northwestern corner of Spain boasts a rich history of female leadership in viticulture and winemaking. As history tells us, the men of Rías Baixas were often at sea for extended periods of time, leaving the women in charge of the land and vineyards. These women proved to be exceptional leaders, managing all aspects of viticulture and winemaking with confidence.
