Adega Condes de Albarei was established in 1988 by several enthusiastic vine growers from the Salnés Valley, who dreamed about making top-quality Albariño wines. The winery soon became a point of reference within the “Rías Baixas” Designation of Origin. In 1991, Condes de Albarei was awarded the gold medal at Bordeaux’s Challenge International du Vin. This prize, the first one obtained by a Spanish white wine, helped the winery to internationalise its wines, selling them in a wide range of markets in countries such as Britain, the United States, Mexico or Japan. It was in the year 2008 that Condes de Albarei purchased the Pazo Baión winery, undertaking an important vinicultural and wine-tourism project.
