Tomorrow is August 1st, and with it comes Galicia’s biggest party. This month within the region, you will be able to taste all the Galician dishes you are willing to indulge in during a host of nonstop food and wine experiences. From mid-July until the end of August, there will be numerous events based around Rías Baixas Albariño, and there are options for everyone—whether your preference is vegetables, seafood, or meat. Our tour starts the first weekend of August where the pepper is the star ingredient.

The Fiesta do Pimiento de Herbon celebrates the region’s famous “Pimientos del Padron,” which has a surprising feature in that some are spicy and some are not, but you never know which one you will get—so be careful! Mussels are another regional dish that make a delectable pairing with Albariño. From August 2-4, you can enjoy the freshest mussels in A Illa de Arousa and also in Rianxo.

August 11 is one of the days seafood lovers won’t want to miss either because 60k kg of octopus are given to more than a 100k people at the Fiesta do Pulpo de Carballino. Meat lovers get their fix too starting July 28 for a full two weekends when they can enjoy all the meat they can eat in Moraña, Pontevedra.

And finally…the Albariño Week Party! This takes place in Cambados, from July 31 to August 4th. During the event, attendees will be able to try a range of Albariño styles that the región provides with their best food pairings. There is one final festival—Fiesta do Viño do Condado—that takes place from August 23-25 to ensure the month ends in style.
